4 Concerns We Have When Moving in a Thunderstorm (And What We Do About It)
At Hauling Hubbies, we like to work as diligently as possible for the duration of your move. However, we know that the weather in Charleston can turn dangerous quickly. thunderstorms can have a significant impact on our ability to load a truck safely. Here are some of our concerns when this situation occurs.
Safety Concerns: Thunderstorms can create dangerous working conditions for our crew members. Heavy rain makes the truck ramp and cargo area slippery. Strong winds can make carrying furniture or boxes more difficult and risky. And of course the lightening strikes are dangerous, particularly to the cargo area of the truck.
Damage to Property: Thunderstorms can cause damage to our customers' property if it is outside at the arrival of the storm. Heavy rain can cause water damage to furniture and electronics, and strong winds can knock over boxes and damage fragile items.
Delayed Schedule: Thunderstorms can cause delays in our moving schedule. we would rather wait out a passing storm If our crew members cannot safely load a truck. We will always try to accommodate a reschedule if necessary and desired by out customer.
Driving in a storm: Most storms do not get severe enough for us to avoid driving in. However, if a storm brings strong winds driving across the Charleston area bridges can be dangerous and not worth the risk.
At Hauling hubbies we like to stay informed about weather reports and adjust our schedule accordingly if necessary. If your move is scheduled on a day where thunderstorms are likely to occur we may reach out to postpone or even reschedule your move earlier to minimize the risk of on job delays and property damage. If we are on the job and the weather shows signs of souring we will be sure to keep your belongings either inside the truck or your residence. Passing storms may require a brief delay but a really bad weather report may require a reschedule completely.
Right behind safety, our main concern during a move is the satisfaction of our customers. We encourage you to call us if the upcoming weather reports are making you uncomfortable. But hopefully when we see you for your next move in Charleston we can share a bright, sunny day!
